transparency report 5/8/19
hey trollian, we have some things to go over about the whole bro situation. we have spent the past few days going over everything that has been submitted to us, and collectively we have decided that demodding bro is not the correct decision, as we could find no rules broken nor abuse of power, and he will stay on the mod team.
we have made some minor rule changes, and you are now allowed to mute mods, but if you do, at least one of us needs to know (DMs or Discord is fine) so that we can still do our jobs. Genesis Frog is still not to be blocked or muted preferably.
There are several tools at your disposal that we really need people to use more. You can always report, you can always dm a mod, and we can guarantee that we will not retaliate by banning you if you have a problem with a member of the mod team. we put in a lot of unpaid hours to keep this place functioning, and we want to help, but we cant help if we dont know theres a problem.
We would also suggest instead of posting on local about how a user is bad, which can cause misinformation and confusion, to use the tools available to you to report. We all have day jobs and things we have to do with our lives and we might not always see local, but we can see reports or DMs or discord messages.
I picked all of my mods because i trust them and so far, none of them have hurt my trust. they are all good at what they do, and i cant imagine trying to run this place without any one of them. everyone brings something i dont have to the table and thats intentional and something i like a lot. we have quite often given users second (and third, and fourth, and fifth) chances, and i would like to request the same for us. sometimes we fuck up, sometimes we speak too quickly, and we’re just doing our best.
Every decision (up to warnings and bannings) is handled collectively by the team. we take votes, we give pros and cons, and we collectively make a decision. no one here has the power to just wipe an account away, and honestly i think thats the best way to handle it.
We are also open to suggestions from the community for ways you think are better to handle things. we cant guarantee that your idea will be implemented, but you are allowed to just message one of us and say that you think something could be handled better as far as rules go. we can also do these transparency reports on request if theres something really big that happens that you want us to make a huge post about.
Please just remember we are all doing our best, and no one here wants you to feel unsafe.
